MESSAGE FROM THE FAO ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT
Congratulations and best of success to the new FAOA Board of Governors
I would like to take this opportunity to announce the results of the recent FAOA Board of Governors (BOG) election and to congratulate those elected to the new BOG, listed below (in alphabetical order) who will take over as the new BOG on 1 October 2021. We especially welcome our newest FAOA BOG members, Charles Hooper and Robert Wagner:
Daniel Brownlee
John Haseman
Jeff Hoffmann
Charles Hooper
Graham Plaster
Joseph Rank
Lauren Serrano
Rob Timm
Robert Wagner
As per the FAOA Charter, the new BOG will elect its officers, including President, at their first meeting after 1 October. I would like to say it has been a distinct pleasure and honor for me to have served on the FAOA BOG since 2003 and as FAOA President for 10 years since 2011, during which time the FAOA evolved into the premier association representing defense international affairs. During my tenure, I’m proud of the achievements made by the Association with membership levels, financial stability, FAOA scholarship program, FAOA Academic Awards, Distinguished Speaker Events, Pentagon FAOA Heritage Display, new regional Chapters, and multiple configurations of the peer-reviewed FAOA Journal of International Affairs. These programs continued to strengthen and develop, even during the COVID period.
I would like to heartily thank the FAO community for this special opportunity, as well as give a special thanks to the other FAOA BOG members and officers that I have worked with over this period. I’d also like to again respectfully mention the recent passing of former FAOA President (2005-2009) and esteemed friend and colleague, COL Steve Norton, USA (ret). Steve made huge contributions to the FAO community, intelligence community, and the FAOA which we hope to capture and honor in the future in an appropriate way.
Congratulations and best of success to the new FAOA Board of Governors in continuing to lead and advance the Association to the next level in serving the membership and the greater FAO and defense international affairs communities.
KURT M. MARISA, Colonel, USAF (ret.)
President, FAO Association
