The FAO Association is proud to partner with CEO and Cipher Brief Publisher, Suzanne Kelly to host a Panel of experts to discuss dynamics and future of a GPC Foreign Area Officer.
The Cipher Brief is an expert-driven national and global security community that publishes expert-level insights on today’s most pressing national security issues, while focusing on the nexus of public-private engagement and its impact on future security.
The Forum includes a "Scowcroft Perspective" provided by Barry Pavel, Senior Vice President and Director of Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security at the Atlantic Council.
Other distinguished Panel guests include:
The walls of the Cold War are transitioning from Berlin to Beijing – or perhaps Dnipropetrovsk. Taking its place is the great power competition, or GPC. While Moscow is still a key focus on the 2021 NATO Summit agenda, China has entered the “new arms race” for global strength and influence, including the call for NATO-China Council dialogue. The GPC of the 21stCentury is far more than a competition of military and economic might, but an effort to discredit freedom and Western-based democratic principles. As a result, GPC adversaries use soft-power tools like cyber, COVID-19 vaccine diplomacy, defense planning, 5G spectrum, international aid, intellectual property theft, supply chains, coalition building, and election interference. The conversations about GPC are taking place in corporate boardrooms, military exercises, government agencies, and academic institutions. This forum brings together stakeholders from each of these environments.
